  2014 TDF

TOUR de FRANCE special edition!

2014 proved to be incredibly busy on account of the Tour de France choosing to go through Langsett. It was an amazing weekend and we celebrated this incredible event with a special film festival programme dedicated to sport (well almost!).

UKP - United Kingdom Premiere

Knur and Spell

A second outting for this fabulously mad film. Informative guide to this ancient form of Yorkshire golf. I really exists... honest.

You really must watch this film!

La Pînata

Dir: Manuel Arija - SPAIN
Dark Comedy - 3.00

We showed this again too, a gem of a film, quite violet and made by a film maker who really is going places. A busy square, a great days shopping and a street entertainer.

Vive le Tour

Dir: Louise Malle FRANCE
Documentary - 17.00

1962 - the height of le Tour chic, thrill to the spills, blood, sweat and tyres. The helicopter scene is totally cool. This film has a brand new soundtrack commisioned by Holmfirth Film Festival from the Two Dans... groovy

Three Cheers for Penistone!

Dir: Tim Copsey
Documentary - 10.00

Tug-O-War used to be an Olympic sport you know?

Our Sporting Greats

Dir: Andy Wicks & Chris Squire
Documentary - 5.00

An interview with local hero - Eileen Fenton - who in 1950 swam the channel. "The first nine hours were quite pleasant" by all accounts, and then she dislocated her shoulder...

L'ecole des Facteurs

Dir: Jaques Tati
Comedy - 15.00

School for postmen - Jaques Tati's first film that later became Jour de Fete. This gently fun, incredibly inventive film had the audiences rolling in the ailse. A great finale!
